Microsoft Put Down Features for Outlook 2013

Microsoft has announced its decision to remove some components and features from Outlook 2013,  as per the official Office 2013 blog. The company works with the aim of providing ultimate user experience and addition of new features and removal of outdated features is a part of this process. If you are planning to upgrade to the new version, just have a look inside to know about the changes so that you don't wonder after deploying the new version.

You must be using the support provided by Outlook to import and export information to and from different file formats. Microsoft has examined that many of the supported formats like Word 97-2003 (.doc) and Excel 97-2003 (.xls) are no longer in mainstream use. However, Microsoft Outlook 2013 will continue to support file formats such as comma-separated-value (.csv) and .pst.

You will not be able to access the 'Classic Offline' mode for Microsoft Exchange accounts in the new version. If you are currently under this configuration, you will be upgraded to Cached Mode on installation of the new version. Although, this feature will not alter your experience. One more change in the latest version will be the search feature for mails and calendar via Start Menu or Windows Explorer will no longer exist. However, you can use the search functionality from the app itself.

You can have a complete detail about other changes from the official Microsoft blog. The company has not provided any words on the extend of its deprecation policy. So, there are no clues on whether the policy is restricted to Outlook or will affect Word or Excel too.
